Labor Day Weekend Links

1 Sep

Me at the Raphael Winery

For this Labor Day Weekend I just wanted to link you guys up to some great ideas for domestic American travel. Budget Travel is one of my favorite magazines because it consistently balances, well, the realities of most people’s budgets with up-to-the-minute, interesting, and off-the-beaten-track reportage. I especially love their ideas for driving trips- here are a few of my faves.

All over the United States

One of my favorite spots- the North Fork of Long Island

I’ve never been to the Outer Banks but my short trip to North Carolina is inspiring me to see what else this gorgeous state has to offer!

I visited the Berkshires two years ago with my now-hubby. We loved the Maple Terrace Motel in lovely Williamstown, Massachusetts. It is close to Williams College, a small campus teeming with art, performances, and independent films. It is also one of the few places where you can have a down-home breakfast in the morning, bike in gorgeous surroundings in the afternoon, and catch a Shakespeare play in the evening. Not to overlook!

Hopefully, those of us who are on the east coast won’t be feeling Hurricane Earl’s wrath this weekend and can go out and play.

Enjoy!

The African Presence in Mexico. Click on this link if you live in or plan to be in the Chicago area between now and November. Fascinating!
